One winter week februari 2021 in The Netherlands
region The Stellingwerven (Stellingwarf) in the north

There was about 20 up to 25 cms snow at once in one night
temperature didn’t rise above -4 o C in the day and dropped to -15 o C at night

For 2021 this was really special
there hadn’t been snow and real frost since many years.

Climatechange makes our winters every year warmer ....

Not only we live here but even more other animals have their home around us.

We saw trails of fox, marters, dax, and other ‘game’, as the English call our fellow-animals around us.

We tried to care for especially the birds, like woodpeckers, and all the smaller ones, colourfull as they are like robbins, or more brown ones like (as we call them) winter-kings 😄, very small birds, but with very big (loud) voices. And of course the blue harons, who for now look for food under the snow, in the icey water, as long as the cold doesn’t last too long.

We discovered that the black birds here are luckily more than we thought, we counted up to about eight individuals at the feeding place
